The Government Women & Children Hospital Additional Building was inaugurated at Pallathur, Sivaganga District, Tamil Nadu, India on Aug 23, 2024. This Building was built in memory of Mrs. O.A.O.K.Rm.Ar. Umayal Achi of Pallathur and was sponsored by The Arun Public Charitable Trusts (TAPCT) under the Government of Tamil Nadu’s (GoTN) Namakku Naame Thittam https://www.tnurbantree.tn.gov.in/namakku-naame-thittam/.
The Medical Building was inaugurated by Mr. Kr. Periyakaruppan, Minister for Cooperatives, GoTN. Also present were the Sivaganga District Collector Ms. Asha Ajith (IAS), Pallathur Town Panchayat President Mrs. Shanthi Shivashankar and neighbouring Government Village Chairpersons.
The Government Women & Children Hospital in Pallathur Town Panchayat is one of the oldest and one among 18 such Hospitals in Tamil Nadu, serving Villages within the radius of 10 Kms of Pallathur. The Foundation Stone for the main Building was laid on Feb 7, 1955. Mrs. O.A.O.K.Rm.Ar. Umayal Achi along with other Philanthropic Nagarathar Women in Pallathur brought about this Hospital with their generous contributions, in order to serve the needy people. Since then this Hospital serves as a Birth place for thousands of Children. In order to assist continuing forward Mrs. O.A.O.K.Rm.Ar. Umayal Achi’s vision for best Gynaecology centre, TAPCT supported the Additional Building.
Addressing the Audience on the occasion, Mr. Ar Rm Arun, Managing Trustee, TAPCT shared that this initiative is the 2nd Medical Building contributed to Society by TAPCT. The 1st being the Mr. O.A.O.K.Rm. Arunachalam Chettiar Medical Building at Mithravayal also in Sivaganga District. Mr. Arun appreciated the efforts of the Pallathur Panchayat in taking the initiative for this new building and encouraged them & the Healthcare Staff to ensure that services provided from this Building last several years for the benefit of Society.
In his address Mr. Arun explained that the purpose of this contribution is not for fame or any individual satisfaction, but it is a responsibility. Some people can afford to contribute monetarily, some can contribute by their good actions and others can contribute by their good words. But it is imperative for such positive contribution to come about, as that’s what forms the purpose & meaning to one’s life on this Earth. Mr. Arun encouraged each & every person to contribute in whatever way they can for the betterment of Society.
The event was well attended by Members of the O.A.O.K.Rm. Family, Special Invitees, Residents of Pallathur and its surrounding Villages, Members of the Medical Community, and the Press.
